Our Roofing Services in Metairie, LA

Roof Replacement
A replacement in unincorporated Metairie is decided before the first shingle comes off. Louisiana now requires the work to be permitted and inspected, and Jefferson Parish meets the inspection half with photographs rather than an inspector.

Roof Leak Repair
Most of what we are called out for in Metairie is small, and it should stay small. A split pipe boot, a backed-out nail, an open valley lap, a sidewall with no kickout.

Storm Damage Restoration
After a system moves through, the first job is not repair. It is preserving the state of the roof long enough for somebody other than us to see it.

Hail Damage Roofing
Hail happens here, and it is not what ends roofs in this parish. Jefferson Parish sees it in spring squall lines rather than in the sustained hail alleys of Texas and Oklahoma, and that matters because it changes whether an impact-rated shingle is worth paying for.

Wind Damage Roofing
Here is the argument this whole company is built on, stated plainly. A wind rating is a property of a product.

Roof Inspections
Three different things get called a roof inspection around here, and confusing them costs people money. It is worth separating them before you pay for any of them, because two of the three are not inspections at all in the ordinary sense.

Asphalt Shingle Roofs
Almost every roof in Metairie is asphalt shingle, and on the way we work the shingle is the least consequential decision on the job. No roofer enjoys saying it, but the claim holds up the moment you look at where roofs in this parish actually let go.

Metal Roofing
Metal is a good roof for a Metairie house and a harder one to document. Both halves of that sentence are true, and the second half is the one nobody mentions until the paperwork stage, so we will put it up front instead.

Tile Roofing
There is very little tile in Metairie and we would rather say so than pretend otherwise. Where it exists it is usually on a nineteen-twenties or thirties house near the older ridge streets, or on a stucco addition somebody built to look Mediterranean in the eighties.

Flat & Low-Slope Roofing
Half the low-slope work in Metairie is on something that was not part of the original house. A carport enclosed in 1974, a Florida room off the back, a den added over a slab.

Roof Coatings & Sealing
Consider this our argument against a line on our own invoice. Roof coatings are sold hard in south Louisiana and they are the wrong answer far more often than they are the right one.

Roof Ventilation
Ventilation on this coast is a rain problem before it is an airflow problem. That single reordering changes which vents we will install on your house, and it is why we sometimes replace a vent that is working perfectly well by every other measure.

Skylights
A skylight is a hole in the part of the house that is supposed to have no holes, so it is worth being deliberate about. In Metairie there is a second reason for care: on a documented roof, a skylight is an accessory component with paperwork attached.

Gutters & Downspouts
Gutters get treated as an afterthought bolted on at the end of a roof job. On a documented roof in Jefferson Parish they are not, because of what they attach to.

Fascia & Soffit
The eave is where a Metairie roof tells the truth. It is also the first thing a photograph of the roof edge shows, which means it is hard to hide and easy to check on somebody else's work.

Chimney Flashing
Chimneys leak more often than roofs do, and in Metairie a large share of what people call a chimney is not masonry at all. On postwar and seventies houses it is a framed chase clad in siding with a sheet metal pan on top, and it fails differently.

Emergency Tarping
Tarping is triage and it should be treated that way. It is not a repair, it is not free of consequences, and on a documented roof it can destroy evidence that is worth more than the tarp.

Commercial Roofing
Commercial work in this parish means the Veterans Memorial Boulevard retail strips, the Elmwood industrial corridor, medical offices along the hospital campuses, and a great many small multi-tenant buildings owned by people who live nearby. Most of it is low-slope, and most of it is older than its owner believes.

Insurance Claim Help
Start with the fact that reframes this whole subject. In Louisiana the durable money on a roof is not the claim.
Metairie Roof Pros is a licensed, insured Metairie roofing contractor: replacement and leak repair, storm work, metal roofs, low-slope membrane, ventilation, gutters, fascia and flashing across the whole of Jefferson Parish. Architectural laminate shingles, sealed roof decks, twenty-six gauge drip edge, standing seam panels and heat-welded TPO are all everyday work here, on houses and on the small multi-tenant buildings that fill this parish.
What sets a Metairie roof apart is not the weather, which everyone shares. It is that Metairie is unincorporated, so Jefferson Parish issues the permit, and the parish requires no on-site inspection. It takes geo-tagged photographs by email instead: the bare deck, the underlayment nailing and packaging, the drip edge, and the finished cover with its wind rating.
Which means the roof you own is exactly the roof your photographs can prove, and every one of those photographs has a window that closes when the next layer goes down. We build the whole schedule around that fact. Permit first, deck open long enough to document properly, and the same file the parish receives sent to you as well.
What Metairie Customers Say
Three bidders and only one of them knew the parish wanted geo-tagged photos. They sent me the same set they sent the permit office, filed by address. My agent took the paperwork and the premium moved.
They talked me out of a coating on a shingle roof another company had quoted, then found two pipe boots and a valley lap for a few hundred dollars. Came back four years later for the actual reroof.
The deck was nailed with smooth shanks from 1962 and they showed me the photos with a tape measure in them before anything covered it. Re-nailing cost less than I expected and the attic shots made the evaluation straightforward.
Storm took part of the back slope. They photographed everything before the tarp went on and marked where every fastener went. When the adjuster came out there was nothing to argue about.
Why Metairie Chooses Metairie Roof Pros
- ✓We wait for the permit to issue before anything comes off, because Act 422 of 2025 made starting early a licensing violation rather than a scheduling shortcut
- ✓The deck stays open long enough to photograph properly, from above with a tape measure and from inside the attic, so the attachment can be proved later
- ✓You receive the same file the parish receives, organized by address, so the record survives whichever contractor you use next
- ✓We quote the plain reroof and the documented FORTIFIED version side by side, with the evaluator's hold points already written into the schedule
- ✓We say out loud when repair is the better buy, when a coating is money set on fire, and when a claim sits below your named-storm deductible
- ✓We are roofers, not public adjusters: we document what we found and leave the settlement to the person whose job that actually is
About Metairie Roof Pros in Metairie, LA
Metairie Roof Pros works out of Metairie and across Jefferson Parish, doing roof replacement, leak repair, storm damage, low-slope membrane work, flashing, ventilation and gutters on houses and small commercial buildings. Crews are our own, the license is real and searchable, and the certificates come to you from the carrier rather than from us.
We built the company around a local fact rather than a slogan. Metairie has no city government, so the parish permits the work, and the parish decided to accept photographs in place of an inspector. That puts an unusual amount of weight on whether the roofer documents his own work honestly at the one moment it can be documented at all. We would rather be judged on that than on a truck wrap.
Some work we would honestly rather you gave to nobody at all. If your roof has under five years left and somebody has talked you into a coating, do not buy that from us or from anyone. If your leak is a single pipe boot, pay a two-hour repair and keep the rest.
And if you want a FORTIFIED designation on a sound roof nobody photographed the deck of, we will tell you it probably cannot be done rather than take the evaluation fee.
How It Works
- 1
Permit Before Anything Comes Off
We apply to the Jefferson Parish Department of Building Permits and wait for it to issue. Act 422 of 2025 made starting ahead of the permit a licensing violation rather than a formality, and no schedule pressure is worth that. On a house pursuing a FORTIFIED designation, your evaluator is engaged at this stage too, before a crew is ever booked.
- 2
Free Inspection, Slope by Slope and Attic First
We walk what is safe to walk, pole-camera what is not, and go into the attic with a light before we go on the roof with a clipboard. You get photographs keyed to a slope diagram, a note on remaining service life in years, and a straight answer about whether this is a repair or a replacement.
- 3
The Deck Stays Open Long Enough
Tear-off, deck inspection, panel replacement where it is soft, then re-nailing to an 8D ring-shank pattern and the sealed deck. All of it photographed with a tape measure while it is still visible, from above and from inside the attic. We do not tear off and dry in the same afternoon on a documented roof.
- 4
Closeout You Can Hand to Somebody Else
Underlayment, new drip edge, self-adhered starter, rated cover and rated vents, each phase shot with its packaging. Then a magnet sweep, a walk-round with you, and a file: permit record, four photo sets, product registrations, workmanship warranty and any designation paperwork, filed by address so it outlives us.

Commercial Roofing in Metairie and Across Jefferson Parish
We roof and maintain the buildings that make up Jefferson Parish's working stock: the retail strips along Veterans Memorial Boulevard, the warehouses and light industrial buildings in Elmwood, medical and professional offices near the hospital campuses, and a great many small multi-tenant properties owned by people who live within a few miles of them.
Act 239 of 2025 brought commercial reroofing under the same permitting and inspection requirement as residential work, so the paperwork side of a commercial job has changed since the last time many owners bought a roof. What we hand over at the end is a documentation package a lender's engineer, an insurer or a buyer's inspector can actually read.
- ✓Sixty and eighty mil reinforced TPO and EPDM, heat-welded and probed at the laps
- ✓Granulated-cap SBS modified bitumen in two plies wherever foot traffic is heavy

- ✓Perimeter edge metal specified to a tested standard rather than fabricated by eye

Frequently Asked Questions
Is a permit required to reroof a Metairie house?
Yes, if you are replacing fifty percent or more of the roof covering on a one or two family dwelling. Metairie is unincorporated, so it comes from the Jefferson Parish Department of Building Permits rather than from a city hall, and the fee is fifty dollars paid by card. The work is judged against the 2021 International Residential Code.
Since Act 239 of 2025, permitting and inspection of reroofing has been required statewide for projects beginning on or after August 1 of that year.
Will an inspector come out to look at my new roof?
No. The parish states plainly that no on-site inspection is required for a residential re-roofing permit. Instead, geo-tagged photographs showing location, date and time have to be submitted by email covering the exposed deck before it is recovered, the underlayment with its nailing pattern and material packaging visible, the drip edge with its nailing pattern, and the installed cover with packaging and wind rating noted. In practice that means the person documenting your roof is the person who built it.
Does my roofer have to be licensed in Louisiana?
Since January 1, 2026, yes, for residential roofing work valued at seven thousand five hundred dollars or more. Act 422 of the 2025 session created the Residential Roofing classification, a subclassification of Residential Construction, and only holders of one of those two may perform residential roof work. Homeowners doing their own work must file a notarized affidavit claiming exemption from licensure with the permit. Every license is searchable on the State Licensing Board's website.
What is a FORTIFIED Roof and is it worth doing here?
It is a construction standard published by IBHS, the Insurance Institute for Business and Home Safety, and verified by an independent certified evaluator rather than by the contractor who built it. It requires 8D ring-shank deck attachment, a sealed roof deck, new drip edge at a minimum twenty-six gauge, a self-adhered starter strip and vents rated for wind-driven rain.
Whether it pays depends on your carrier. Louisiana law requires insurers to file a discount for it, and the published figures run from single digits to about thirty percent.
Can I get a state grant toward a stronger roof?
The Louisiana Fortify Homes Program, run by the Department of Insurance, grants up to ten thousand dollars toward a FORTIFIED Roof retrofit. It is awarded by lottery, not first come, and rounds are heavily oversubscribed, so plan your roof as though you will not win one. The designation earns the insurance discount whether or not a grant pays for it, and that discount is the part you can actually count on.
Why does documentation matter more here than somewhere else?
Because nobody else is looking. In a jurisdiction with site inspections, a third party sees your deck. In unincorporated Jefferson Parish, the record is a photo set your contractor takes of his own work. That is workable, but only if the photographs are actually taken at the right moment, and the right moment for deck attachment is gone the second underlayment covers it. Ask any bidder how they intend to prove it.
